Lighthouse walk, Isle of Mull no.3

On a cold and misty day, we walked from Tobermory on The Isle of Mull, Scotland, to the lighthouse. The walk took us via a rugged forest with plenty of steep sides and lots of wild moss and lichen covered trees. My A4 sized sketch done soon after, was used as a reference for this larger work. I used watercolour on 300gsm Arches with dip pen and other pens to create the mossy and grassy slopes and pastel coloured trees. So beautiful.

This work is mounted on board so that it is ‘floating’ within a frame which is made of Tasmanian oak. It looks very effective.
