Moroccan Jug with Oranges
The bloom and ripening of flowers and fruit from my garden signals the year’s progress: this everyday and familiar harvest has a strong presence, and is the source of themes I explore in my work. Here, the warm tones of the oranges and the cool of foliage from a tree well into its third decade are echoed in the painted colours of the ceramic jug. The placement of a knife indicates that the fate of the oranges may well be juice, while its straight lines cut through the roundness of fruit and vessel.
