The Queen’s Farewell, Westminster

Queen Elizabeth II was farewelled at Westminster Abbey on the 19th September 2022 after a long, dutiful life.
This was a television spectacle. It reminded me of a huge film set with a cast of thousands.
The central arch, silhouetted by light was symbolic of the Queen’s personal faith, and created a created a theatrical entrance . The symbolic, darkened interior evolved over centuries.
I used suggestion rather than realism. Figures are stylized, and at times silhouetted . The light streaming from the outside world contrasts with the darkness of contemplation inside.
