Artist Statement
Angela was born in Melbourne. After graduating in Early Childhood Studies, she attended art studies in drawing, under Ian Armstrong at N.G.V. and oil painting with Shirley Bourne OAM, at Malvern Artists’ Society.
Angela first taught oil painting for adults, at the Yarra Valley Grammar School, Ringwood and continued to combine the roles of Kindergarten Director in Melbourne and Alice Springs, enjoying the creative opportunities provided.
In 1984, Angela was awarded the Alice Bale Art Traveling Scholarship and was based in London for a year, attending study tours in history of fine art in Art Galleries and Museums in Europe.
Angela is increasingly working in a favorite medium of reed pen and ink as an alternative medium to oil paint, as she finds this sympathetic and appropriate in her travels to various regions of discovery in Japan over the past six years.
She delights in the incidental and informal subject-matter to be quickly observed, selected and recorded, there and then, and in any location! In 2018, Angela will teach on a residential group painting stay in Tuscany, Italy.
