Marion Chapman
About the Artist
Marion lived in England for 11 years and after obtaining a Diploma of Painting from the City and Guilds of London School of Art, she traveled and returned to Australia.
Her current work derives from direct observation and working drawings and reflects her response to what she sees. She is inspired by life around her, be it landscape, gardens, still life, interiors or people.
It is the pictorial relationship that is meaningful to her and she tries to capture a sense of timelessness, the essence of the whole, by arranging and stressing the different components of the picture plane.
Her painting is based on linear drawing and she works in gouache and watercolour, oils and more recently acrylics.
