Artist Statement

I was born in Melbourne in 1944 and lived in the Bayside suburbs.  I always loved to draw and paint.

I began life drawing whilst doing a fashion design course at RMIT, and pursued life drawing Workshops whenever possible.

I began training in art with Ron Crawford in tonal oil painting in the late 1970’s. I then studied watercolour with David Taylor and later watercolour and life drawing with Margaret Cowling at the Victorian Artist’s Society in East Melbourne. I continue to do many workshops with notable Australian and American artists whenever possible.

Around 2001 I began teaching watercolour and life drawing at the VAS. I was also teaching at my rented studio space in Hampton.  I resigned from teaching at the VAS when I moved to live on our property at Bonnie Doon.

When I moved to the country in the early 2000’s I was able to build my long dreamed of studio, where I am currently conducting a watercolour class, portrait group and life drawing group weekly.

I am a signatory member of VAS, Fellow of AGRA and a member of MSWPS and the Watercolour Society.  I exhibit at VAS, AGRA, and MSWPS along with local art shows.
