2021 MSWPS Award

Cynthia Boyle’s painting Hot NW Wind is the Winner, by member voting, of the 2021 MSWPS Award.

Cynthia has written a response to the award:

As a country member of MSWPS during Covid, it became almost impossible to have face to face interaction. When the opportunity arose to participate in the online exhibition, I was more than happy to participate.

Many of the paintings I produced during that period were a result of witnessing the devastation of bushfires in East Gippsland. ‘Hot NW Wind’ is about the dread that is felt when the hot dry wind brings the smell of smoke.

I was thrilled to learn that this painting was chosen for the members award at MSWPS. It wasn’t possible at the time to make the journey to Melbourne to receive the award. I’m hopeful that this year I’ll be able to get there in person for a few of the events and activities on offer.
