Pamela Irving of PAMELA IRVING GALLERY       A Review by Carmel O’Connor

Mirka Moira, Deborah Halpern and Pamela Irving are artists easily grouped together.

At the Pamela Irving Gallery, 68 Patterson Road, Bentleigh OPEN STUDIO on Sunday 5 May 2019 for the launch of a collaborative project by Pamela Irving with her fascinating mosaic bas relief wall plaque sculpture titled YOLO Man Waltzing Matilda and many others works complimentary to her husband W. Benjamin Lindner’s first book Waltzing Matilda: Australia’s Accidental Anthem. A Forensic History., (book priced at $32.99) was a fun afternoon. Lisa McCure opened the event. Our members Tessa Wallis, Marion Chapman, Jo Reitze and myself were part of the large audience of ‘old and new friends’ who followed with a chorale from the original song words of Waltzing Matilda by Paterson / Macpherson.

Now back to the famous Australian artist Pamela Irving and her ceramic mosaic bas relief wall plaques, sculptures, paintings and interesting collection of broken bits of porcelain. Her works make a witty, ironic comment cleverly constructed and arranged as caricatures derived from figurative sources. Visiting Pamela’s gallery is a must. irvinggallery@gmail.com
