President’s Report - November 2019

The Annual Exhibition Changing Perspectives 2019 was a viewing success but only made three sales.

I thank the committee members for working tirelessly for all members in organising the total event which strengthens the society’s charter again.

The Opening held on Sunday 6 October was well attended by over two hundred people. This was an excellent result from our advertising in the NGV Magazine September Issue, VAS e-Journal, Art Almanac, Invitations sent by snail mail and handed out by members plus an e-Promo Invite.

The Annual Lecture was also a wonderful attraction which saw over sixty people pass through the doors of the Victorian Artists Society Galleries. The Lecture ‘Women of Heidi’ held on Thursday 10 October present by Heide Artistic Director – Lesley Harding and Heide Senior Curator – Kendrah Morgan held the interest of our Melbourne women artists centric audience. The Lecture took on a serious note as our guest speakers unravelled the lives of five prominent Australian women of Heide: Joy Hester, Sunday Reed, Erica Gilchrist, Mirka Mora and Cynthia Reed.
